Spinach & Feta Stuffed Burgers

INGREDIENTS

🍔 1 cup SPAR Freshline BABY SPINACH

🍔 1½ blocks SPAR SOUTH AFRICAN FETA CHEESE PLAIN

🍔 ½ cup grated mozzarella cheese

🍔 650g SPAR Select LEAN BEEF MINCE

🍔 ¼ cup mayonnaise, plus more for servings

🍔 1 tbsp beef seasoning

🍔 5 burger buns, halved and toasted

burger toppings of your choice

METHOD

For the stuffing:

1. On a clean cutting board, finely chop the SPAR Freshline BABY SPINACH and SPAR SOUTH AFRICAN FETA CHEESE PLAIN into bite-sized pieces. *Chef’s tip: Any flavour of SPAR Feta Cheese can be used!

2. Transfer the spinach and feta into a medium-sized mixing bowl. Add the grated cheese and mix until well combined.

For the patties:

3. Place the SPAR Select LEAN BEEF MINCE into a large mixing bowl, add the beef seasoning and mayonnaise. Mix until well incorporated.

4. Section the mince into 5 large balls. Flatten the balls into the palm of your hand. Spoon a portion of the spinach and feta stuffing into the centre.

5. Use your hands to shape and cover the stuffing with mince. Repeat this process with the remaining prepped sections. *Chef’s tip: The patties can also be made the day before and refrigerated until needed.

6. Heat a large non-stick pan on high heat. Gently lay the stuffed patties into the pan, seal side down. Cook for 8-10 minutes on either side or until the mince has browned. *Chef’s tip: Alternatively, cook the patties on the braai. Cook on hot coals for 7-8 minutes on either side.
