INGREDIENTS

For the chocolate flavour:

2½ cups White Star Instant Maize Porridge Chocolate Flavour

For the strawberry flavour:

2½ cups White Star Instant Maize Porridge Strawberry Flavour

1 tsp butter


Served with: 

Strawberry yoghurt

Melted white chocolate

For the banana flavour:

Pinch of salt

2½ cups White Star Instant Maize Porridge Banana Flavour

1 tsp butter


Served with:

Amasi

Peanut butter

Banana slices

METHOD

For the chocolate flavour:

1. Bring the 1½ cups of water, salt, and butter to a rolling boil in a small pot. *Chef’s tip: the butter adds a slight richness to the pap but is completely optional!


2. Pour the White Star Instant Maize Porridge Chocolate Flavour into the center of the boiling water to form a "mountain." Do not stir.


3. Cover immediately with a tight lid. Turn the heat down to a medium-high heat and allow the pap to cook for 35-40 minutes, until the water has evaporated and the pap is cooked.


4. Remove from the heat. Use a large fork to vigorously rake the mixture. This breaks the steamed mass into fine crumbs.


5. To serve, divide the pap between two cereal bowls. Add milk, chocolate chips, melted milk chocolate and fresh berries to accompany the pap and ENJOY! *Chef’s tip: or alternatively serve with milk or amasi!
