INGREDIENTS

2 boxes (600g each) vanilla flavoured cake mix, plus ingredients needed to make the batter

1 packet (250g) vanilla flavoured icing mix

½ slab (75g) Nestlé Milky Bar Original Slab

¼ cup Nestlé Full Cream Sweetened Condensed Milk

1 punnet fresh strawberries, cut into quarters

METHOD

1. Preheat the oven and prepare both boxes of vanilla cake mix according to the package instructions. Alternatively bake the mix as cupcakes.

2. Pour the batter into your prepared tins: one 23cm round cake tin and one 24cm loaf tin. Bake the cakes according to package directions. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack, then refrigerate until firm, approximately 1 hour. *Chef’s tip: the cake is cooked when a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.

3. Break the Nestlé Milky Bar Original Slab blocks with your hands. On a chopping board, chop the Nestlé Milky Bar Original Slab. Place it in a microwave-safe bowl and melt it, in 30-second intervals, until smooth. Let it cool slightly.

4. Place the store-bought vanilla icing mix into a mixing bowl. Add the slightly cooled melted white chocolate and ¼ cup of Nestlé Condensed Milk. Using an electric beater, whisk on high speed for around 2-3 minutes or until the icing is light and fluffy. Set aside until ready to decorate.

5. Watch the Foodies of SA video on how to cut & shape the cake into the number nine.

7. Use a spatula or spoon and apply a thin layer of the Milky Bar icing all over the entire assembled cake to lock in crumbs. Refrigerate for 15 minutes until the icing has set.

8. Apply a generous, smooth final layer of the Milky Bar icing. Decorate the edges and top of the cake with fresh strawberries, slicing larger berries or arranging smaller ones whole. Shave some extra Milky Bar chocolate over the top for a final flourish.

9. Chill the cake until ready to serve. Slice and ENJOY!
